WELCOME TO FLY FOR COARSE!
Your most exciting fishing challenge starts here…
Whether stalking chub or carp with dry flies, casting small nymphs for roach, or presenting hand sized streamers for pike, more and more anglers are taking up the challenge of flyfishing for coarse fish. This is intimate and visually thrilling sport, but also a deadly and subtle way to take on new species and old favourites.
“Fly For Coarse” represents a new kind of fishing competition. This is not another typical “heaviest fish wins” contest. No, we believe the thrill and the experience itself is more important than pounds and ounces. We want to hear about your stories, your catches and favourite flies.
You don’t have to be a fly fishing expert to get involved. All are welcome, and the only criteria is that you use a fly rod and artificial fly. Over the coming months, we’ll be highlighting our favourite catches, whether that means your first ever coarse fish on the fly, an epic battle on light gear or a novel idea that paid off.
We want as much detail as possible about your adventures. Remember, we are interested in HOW you caught it, not just the fish itself. Virtually all coarse species take flies and your entry could be anything from a common carp to a monster perch, a free-rising dace or even a gudgeon. It needn’t be big, and it needn’t be a first prize entry to grab our interest. Go for it!
“A fascinating challenge - this is the true spirit of angling”
